What’s Inside: A Closer Look at Plant- Based Pure Artisan ™ Paints
At Artisan Enhancements™, we’re firm believers in the principles of the Four R’s – “Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, and Renew”. Whenever possible, we try to apply these principles to furniture painting, refinishing, and decorative arts. But often the paint and products being used on these projects are hazardous to the planet and in some cases…humans.
Have you ever wondered what’s inside your paints? Did you know that many paints and coatings available on the market are made from non-renewable oils, synthetic oils, or plastic derived resins?
Traditional oil-based and petroleum-based paints have existed and been used for centuries. However, these paints frequently contain toxic harmful additives, high levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and solvents that can off gas into the air. This makes them unsuitable for outdoor use due to environmental considerations or interior work due to indoor air quality health concerns.
Latex and acrylic based resin paints are essentially man-made liquid plastics that solidify into a hardened plastic layer. Plastic polymers are a key ingredient in most latex and acrylic paints. Unfortunately, this results in paint being one of the biggest sources of microplastic pollution in our oceans, groundwater, and waterways.
Not to mention the manufacturing process of modern paints also contributes to vast amounts of toxic waste contaminating air, water, and soil.
When developing and manufacturing Pure Artisan™ Paint by Artisan Enhancements™, rather than be part of the problem, we wanted to be on the forefront of the solution!
Since our chemist works in house developing our formulations and we manufacturer our products, we’re able to monitor and maintain a standard of better and safer ingredients in our products. We have formulated our paint using high-quality, sustainable, renewable plant-based oil resin. We removed the nasty harmful substances found in traditional oil-based paints and replaced them with safer and more sustainable plant oil alternatives.

Created with the professional painter, homeowner, DIYer, and novice painter in mind! Our paints are developed to be more user-friendly than traditional oil-based paints and can be applied with a brush, roller, and sprayer. Pure Artisan™ Paint provides excellent flow, leveling, hide, and coverage.
Unlike traditional oil-based products, no solvent or spirit is needed for clean-up. Just warm water and a mild soap!
