From concept to creation! 💙Artisan @eternal_life_by_aleksandra was tasked by a client to create a finish inspired by the client’s dishware. Aleksandra layered tones a blue paint to create a blended ombré finish. Crackle Tex and Scumble Glaze were used to achieve Aleksandra’s signature soft subtle textured finish.

Scumble is one of our most versatile effect mediums. Two of the most frequently asked questions we get about Scumble are, “what is it and how do I use it?”

Scumble can be used as an extender or a tintable glaze medium!

We thought it would be fun to create a short series of quick how-to videos that highlight different ways to tint Scumble for various effects!

The sample boards have been painted with a matte chalk style paint in a creamy color. We added an applique to each board to showcase how glaze effects can accentuate details.

For each technique, we’re using a 3:1 mixture (3 parts Scumble + 1 part Tint Source).

Our first technique: Tinting with Pigment Powder

Every year we have fun using pumpkin canvases to experiment or build multi-technique layered designs. Our first pumpkin creation drew inspiration from some of the hottest fall décor trends – think black and white tones, floral elements, metallic accents, ribbons, ceramic pieces, and delicate textured finishes! The entire pumpkin was sealed with Clear Finish Gloss.
