Artisan Enhancements Products And Script Stencil Create A Beautiful Finish!

What fun this finish was to create! A bit rustic. A bit glamorous. And totally fit for a fancy gold frame.
We like how wonderful and time-saving it is to have the option to paint right over an existing finish on walls or furniture, and use it as ghostly pattern within the new technique. Especially when well-stuck wallpaper is involved.
We got the idea while searching around the studio, seeking an unpainted sample board. Rather than painting two or three coats of paint to delete the old pattern, we simply let it shine through.
Give it a try we think you’ll enjoy the simple process.
Just visualize using this technique on canvas, a focus wall, on cabinet door panels, and on simple pieces of furniture

USE WAX PAPER SHAPES FOR THE TEXTURE & GOLD FOIL

Use the edge of a ruler to cut out some rough rectangular shapes.

Put some VP Antico on a palette.

With one hand, hold down a piece of wax paper. Pull the color shaper loaded with VP Antico downward, then upward to make shapes for the gold foil.
Paint on one coat of Graphite and let dry. Sand lightly to expose some of the VP Antico and any old pattern from underneath. Wipe clean.
ADD GOLD FOIL

Use an old paint brush to hand paint Leaf & Foil Size within the rectangular shapes. Let come to tack about 45 minutes.

Lay a piece of gold foil on top of the squares and burnish with your fingers. Be sure that the dull side of the foil faces DOWN.
STENCIL

Position the stencil on top of the surface. Add some Fine Stone to your palette. Use the color shaper to gently push Fine Stone through the stencil. Move the stencil as needed to complete the design.

The textured, raised letters nicely complement the distressing and the rustic gold leaf.

You are probably wondering about sealing this project. On canvas, as art, no sealer is required.
