Add Texture To A Lovely Decoupaged Thanksgiving Image For Holiday Decorating
Do you savor decorating for each and every season and holiday or, do you prefer to decorate using items that have multiple uses. We created this project for Thanksgiving, but, if you take advantage of sites like TheGraphicsFairy.com where you can download images for any occasion, you can make designs that insert in the same pretty frame, and change them throughout the year.
We used two different kinds of Artisan Enhancements textures – Fine Stone, which is gritty, and VP Antico, which is smooth. The two, layered together, are different soft whites that add age easily and quickly. If you like the look of soft neutrals, this one is for you!

Artisan Enhancements Fine Stone, VP Antico and Transfer Gel
Printed, copyright-free image
brushes, tin foil, wet rag, scissors, cardboard
CUT OUT CARDBOARD AND THE PRINTED IMAGE.
Find your favorite image and print it on your home printer on regular paper. Tear or cut it to 8″ by 10″. Cut out a piece of cardboard the same size. (We used an image size to fit our frame, but you can do any size.)
USE TRANSFER GEL TO ADHERE AND SEAL THE PRINT.
Crinkle up the paper and set it aside. Brush a generous coat of Transfer Gel on to the cardboard. Immediately press the image into the Transfer Gel.
To avoid getting your hands messy, press a sheet of tin foil on top to smooth the image down flat, leaving the wrinkles, then remove it.
Brush on a coat of Transfer Gel and let it dry. You’ll notice the gel picks up some of the color of the image and gives it instant age. How cool is that?
LAYER ON TWO KINDS OF TEXTURE TO AGE.
Use an old credit card, or small, very stiff trowel to press some VP Antico on to the image, here and there.
Immediately add some Fine Stone, too, randomly. If you cover up an area by mistake, use a wet towel to clean it. Let dry.
Frame it, add found objects and pumpkins (finished with Artisan Enhancements products like Fine Stone and foils), and decorate a table or mantel.
